Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering for the 2019 Third Coast Conference! Please take a minute to read the information below before you submit your application.
The 2019 Third Coast Conference will take place this year from Thursday, October 31- Saturday, November 2 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. We’re looking for a cohort of 25 enthusiastic volunteer producers to help the Third Coast team run the Conference—from setting it up to breaking it down, and everything in between. We’re looking for a diverse cohort of folks—regardless of age or level of experience in audio—who have never before attended the Third Coast Conference, and who are excited about volunteering to make the Conference run, in exchange for a gratis registration. As a project of the Third Coast Fund, this program is especially committed to supporting folks who would not otherwise be able to attend Third Coast. However, we also get far more applications than we can possibly accept, even though most applicants are extremely qualified.
We read and consider each application, and we really want to hear why coming to Third Coast is important to you in your career (or life!) right now. We evaluate applications based on a demonstrated interest in the art and craft of audio, desire for resources and community, and expressed need for financial support. We’re also looking for kind, clear communicators who are willing to chip in as a team of volunteers.
Volunteer shifts will include things like: setting up and breaking down, registering attendees, selling merchandise, introducing sessions, shepherding folks from location to location, running to grab a staff member, answering questions, etc. Volunteers will be given a schedule of shifts in advance of the Conference, and will have a few volunteer shifts, totalling between 6-8 hours. When you’re not on volunteer duty, you’re free to experience the Conference! We also know that coming to the Conference for the first time can be a little bit overwhelming, so we’re looking for a group of people who are excited for the opportunity to support each other and build community in their first year.

The Conference Volunteer Program is supported by the Third Coast Fund, which provides financial aid to individuals who demonstrate a strong interest in audio storytelling, widening access to Third Coast’s programming.
